Bug Description
I'v noticed the behavior only recently and I do not think it is hardware specific , since others are noticing similar problems as well [ https:/
The webcam does not work properly and displays weird artifacts [attached photo taken]
When i restart it sometimes starts working. This is quite a random behavior.
Webcam was working properly without any problems until 20th March , but problems started after an update on 21st , Hence i reported > Bug #545079
A list of the updates after which i started noticing the problem :

I also notice the following messages in the logs

Mar 31 12:18:48 vish-laptop kernel: [ 40.984222] gspca: probe ok
Note that the second time it doesnt register the vc032x.
And, i noticed linux-firmware (1.32) to 1.33 , which might be the cause. Not very sure though. might be a kernel problem

Hi Vish,
If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
