This is fixed in the 2.6.32-20 kernel which is already released. The problem was due to modules being loaded incorrectly and DRI was not available because of it.

If you are still having problems after upgrading and rebooting into the 2.6.32-20 kernel please reopen this bug.

I just installed the Lucid release on my eee 1000HE netbook (Intel i945GM) and I'm having the same problem: glxgears seems to work fine, but no opengl screensavers work and I can't enable desktop effects (all options are grayed out). I'm currently at kernel 2.6.32-21.

I'm using an Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller and the fix didn't work for me--I still can't get desktop effects working. My system is completely up to date by the way.

you should open a new bug rather than reopening a closed one and using fix commited which is wrong there
