Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Please include the new stable release of evolution (2.30) which is released 30th March 2010

This has a lot of bug fixes for users of MS Exchange email servers in the evolution-mapi component

http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/evolution/

The 2.28.x versions that are included currently with Lucid have issues particularly with periodic disconnections and also poor calendar support that make Lucid difficult to use in a Corporate environment where Exchange is provided as the email back-end.

Thank you for your bug report, staying on a known version rather taking a rewrite is decision taken early in the cycle and not a bug, you can read the recent ubuntu-devel-discuss discussion about the choice, exchange support is less good in that version but exchange is not installed by default and not enough to decide to use an untest rewrite in a lts...

...can we get at least a properl maintained semi-official ppa or lucid-backport for evolution-2.30 for those (like me) who had high hopes it would be an integral part of lucid? ;-)

quoting http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/maverick/alpha2:

Evolution was updated to the 2.30 version, which operates much faster compared to the version in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

finally, we're going to get an official 2.30 version in 10.10 :-)
