Binary package hint: empathy

You are allowed to change/customize the published name but not the hostname which is presented when using salut/local_xmpp. Please allow user to modify the hostname bit. You can currently see this info by going to Edit > Personal information. It is displayed as:
published_name@host_name

Hello Omer, I would like to clarify this issue so that you understand what it is about.

Attached below this comment are two screenshots of account preferences for the "bonjour/salut/local_xmpp/People Nearby" IM protocol. One of them is from Pidgin and the other from empathy. Empathy uses your host name (the name of your computer) while pidgin gives you the choice of specifying/customizing the hostname.

Apparently changing the hostname that others on the network will see is a feature that will be removed from pidgin soon as it goes against RFC 2782.

The following ticket was filed for pidgin:
