I see the same, with an iPod Classic 5G. Rhythmbox sees it fine, but not Banshee.

I tried recreating this with Banshee version 1.6.0-1 with a 20 GB 3rd generation iPod and was unsuccessful. Is this still an issue you for you with the latest version of banshee? Thanks in advance.

Well it seemed to work on Saturday (iPod showed up in banshee but did not sync), but after the latest updates, I am not able to see my iPod in Banshee 1.6.0-1. Brian, can you see your iPod in Banshee with today's updates.

I can no longer see my iPod in Banshee. As banshee did not change it must have been another package change causing the issue.

I happened to notice a log file /tmp/podsleuth-debug that might provide some details about this bug:

I mention it because banshee recommends podsleuth but I'm not certain if it really uses for communicating with the iPod.

Do you have hal installed? It looks like Podsleuth is trying to talk to Hal but
cannot due to the D-Bus interface file missing.

sudo podsleuth --rescan
Then, I run banshee

It affects me as well. None of the solutions below is working.

sudo podsleuth --rescan returns "No iPods were found in the HAL device tree"

The ipod is recognized in rhythmbox without any problem.

Banshee version is 1.6.0 and I did an upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04.

Moreover banshee crashes once or twice at first launch... Don't kow if there is any link between both problems

I'm sorry Chow Loong Jin, but this has not yet been fixed. I have followed your instruction but can't seem to synchronize playlists with my iPod Nano 2G using the daily build of Banshee (1.7.3+git20100801.r1.be6c84b-0ubuntu1+lucid).

After your posting I enabled /apps/nautilus/preferences/media_automount_open and also /apps/nautilus/preferences/media_automount but this did not seem to help.
