Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

In Quadrapassel set the Starting level sufficiently high (i.e. level 20) so that the bricks will fall fast and end the game quickly. Exit Quadrapassel and X will crash upon exiting Quadrapassel and throw a bunch of errors in Xorg.0.log.

Sometimes it takes a couple of tries of the above procedure to crash X but it is guaranteed to crash X everytime I run through these steps.

Here is a backtrace.

I hope this is sufficient but there is still a ?? beside libglx.so. I have installed the debug symbols for xserver-xorg-core-dbg, libgl1-mesa-dri-dbg, xserver-xorg-video-ati-dbg and xorg-video-radeon-dbg plus a bunch of others.

I have run the back trace again but this time with packages from the xorg-edgers ppa. I was using this ppa previously when I discovered the crash. I downgraded everything to the Lucid packages to test and make the bug report.

I updated the packages again to xorg-edgers to try the back trace and it seems to show more information this time.

I don't know why there were all those warnings about the debug symbols in the previous back trace. ppa-purge was used to remove xorg-edgers. I also cleared the package cache and redownload/reinstalled the official Lucid packages.

I see this happening after a clean*, but fully upgraded, Lucid i386 beta-1 install: closing quadrapassel crashes X randomly. It's not even necessary to start a game, just closing the application triggers the crash. Doesn't matter if visual effects are on or off. I haven't seen the crash when using the live-cd though. Backtrace attached.

* Several debug packages installed, and manually build debug package for xserver-xorg-core (to obtain the backtrace).

I narrowed it down to libclutter-1.0-0_1.2.4-0ubuntu1 I think (and perhaps libclutter-gtk-0.10-0_0.10.4-0ubuntu1). On a fully upgraded system, downgrading to libclutter-1.0-0_1.0.6-0ubuntu1 (and libclutter-gtk-0.10-0_0.10.2-0ubuntu2, else quadrapassel won't start) is enough to make the X crash go away.

Or, start a live session (lucid beta-1), and upgrade only the libclutter-1.0-0 package to see X crash when closing quadrapassel (the crash happens about 1 in 3 tries on my system).
