Bug Description

Ubuntu with NVIDIA starts up in 1440x900, even though screen is 1680x1050. Nouveau works fine. I have tried forcing 1680x1050 and saving that setting in xorg.conf, but every time I start up, my resolution is 1440x900. When not using NVIDIA proprietary drivers, using Nouveau, the resolution is automatically set correctly.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Can you please tell us which version of the nvidia drivers you used? Thanks in advance.

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's "Help -> Report a Problem" menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

I'm using nvidia-current 195.36.15-0ubuntu1. This problem has been occurring in the 190 drivers as well, when they were in the repos.

Please make sure to enable the nvidia driver, reboot and run

apport-collect 549379

in a terminal once you have the wrong resolution so the Xorg logs are attached to the report. Thanks!

If you have a ~/.config/monitors.xml file try to rename or delete it. This file will be written when you try to configure your graphic whithout the nvidia tool.
It looks, like this file overrite your nvidia-sxerver-settings at startup
