I have no way of telling whether this is the same problem, but after a reboot following today's update (4-8-06) the machine crashed and I got the attached output.

Since upgrading to Dapper everything was very stable until August, when it has reverted to the bad old Breezy behaviour. This suggests something happened in one of the updates just before 1st Aug.

This bug report keeps screaming "bad memory" when I read it. Please run memtest86 a few times on this machine, maybe for an hour or two to be sure.

I've done this on a number of occasions already, without anything showing up. Hardware can never be ruled out, but I don't think it's a memory issue. I have no idea how the rest of the MB can be tested.

I think it's odd that I had nearly two months of very stable Dapper before oopses started again. Is there a list of which updates happened on which dates? That might be worth some scrutiny. It would not be surprising if, on a 64bit smp system, there were software issues.

So, this problem is fixed in Edgy, right? I can close this bug?

Thanks

All I can say is that I haven't experienced it under Edgy on the new hardware.
