Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg

I have a radeon 9550 graphics card. Ubuntu 10.04

glxgears
295 frames in 5.0 seconds = 58.814 FPS
298 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.588 FPS
301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.002 FPS
294 frames in 5.0 seconds = 58.664 FPS

Work such as Blender is impossible.

I installed the drivers from the repository:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu lucid main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ppa/ubuntu lucid main

In ubuntu 9.10 worked. The 10.04 is not.

I installed xserver-xorg-video-ati

glxgears
124 frames in 5.0 seconds = 24.774 FPS
184 frames in 5.0 seconds = 36.729 FPS
189 frames in 5.0 seconds = 37.696 FPS

even worse.

However, support for this graphics card, compared to 9.10 is horrible.

Bug is that kernel module is not loaded before xstarts.
