Searching in messages freezes Thunderbird

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

I can consistently cause Thunderbird to freeze by using the search widget in the toolbar. The process consumes all available CPU time, but a strace of the process shows no activity. I have reproduced this on a fresh thunderbird identity with no non-ubuntu extensions installed. The bug has been in existence since early in the Dapper development cycle, too.

Is this still an issue for you? We are trying to trying sort out the older Mozilla issues and would like to know if this still happens.

Can I ask if this is still an issue on the latest version of Thunderbird(1.5.0.10).. I cannot seem to reproduce this problem..
You say you haven't installed any non-ubuntu extensions, can you supply list the current extensions you have, they may be causing the issue here also? (perhaps trying to run thunderbird in safe-mode to see if this fixes the issue).

Still happens here in safe mode, up to date with Feisty, mozilla-thunderbird 1.5.0.10-0ubuntu3

When I search for an e-mail in my sent items Thunderbird freezes. I have tried running this in safe mode and it still happens. Searching for e-mails is fine in all other folders. Please can you help?

I can still reproduce this - is it worth trying to strace it? What sort
of debugger output would help isolate the issue?

1. can you please backup your .mozilla-thunderbird directory, so this stays reproducible.

2. Next: Please stop thunderbird, remove the .msf file of your broken mailbox folder and see if this helps.
