no direct rendering on Dell laptop using Edgy and i810 driver

After an install of Edgy Knot-1 (plus all the more recent updates) on my Dell Laptop, direct rendering is off. This is a regression from Dapper and older Ubuntu version.

This is with the i810 driver. The interesting lines in my Xorg log about this are:

(II) I810(0): direct rendering: Enabled

(EE) AIGLX error: dlopen of /usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so failed (/usr/lib/dri/i915_dri.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory)
(EE) AIGLX: reverting to software rendering

This should work with the package libgl1-mesa-dri installed - can you confirm that the install & upgrade didn't install libgl1-mesa-dri, and that it works when the package is installed?

I have installed libgl1-mesa-dri (it wasn´t installed after the install of Knot-1), restarted X, and direct rendering is still off:

Daniel, you should have a look at bug 54858 of which this bug is a duplicate. A dirty fix is a symlink from /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri to /usr/lib/dri.
