Bug Description

Binary package hint: gvfs

With current lucid, when I plug in an encrypted external USB hard drive and provide the correct passphrase I get the following dialog:

 <http://people.canonical.com/~james/nx/broken.png>

This is a regression relative to karmic. (Running cryptsetup and mounting manually works)

(Sorry if gvfs is not the right package to file this against, I have no idea which part of the stack is breaking here.)

something seems to be still use devicekit dbus methods there where lucid has udisks, it's not gvfs though

In the future, can you please file such bugs with "ubuntu-bug" and select the storage symptom? This will attach all required debug information and do an interactive bug filing process.

For this one, can you please copy&paste the output of

  dpkg -l gvfs libgdu0 udisks

and

  gvfs-mount -d /dev/sdb1

(Use the actual partition of the USB device instead of /dev/sdb1, of course). Does that work?

(For the record, mounting an encrypted USB stick works just fine here)

Alternatively, is it possible for me to get ssh access to the affected machine, with the faulty device being plugged in? Second line (martin@tick) in https://launchpad.net/~pitti/+sshkeys .

Whatever package was the problem got fixed in the meantime as I've just gotten home and the drive automounted just fine.
