Bug Description

Hi,

Whilst upgrading gdesklets on Ubuntu 10.04 to gdesklets (0.36.1-4) i received the following warning:

/usr/lib/gdesklets/sensor/Sensor.py:82: SyntaxWarning: assertion is always true, perhaps remove parentheses?
assert(self.__id, "The ID is invalid in the constructor.")

The package installed fine, and didn't produce an error after displaying the warning.

Thanks,

Matthew Millar

I have this in 10.04, too. But to see if I have the right version, I would need to issue "gdesklets version" but that does not get interpreted and it falls back to "gdesklets start". Guys, what is going on, here? It's 1 day until the official release...

Well, this bug has been fixed in rev. #130 in the gDesklets 0.3x branch (rev. #130 is 0.36.3_beta/development).
But this is already beyond gDesklets 0.36.2 (rev. #128 is the 0.36.2 release) und ubuntu is still stuck at gDesklets 0.36.1 (as far as I can tell).

Anyway, this doesn't look like a general gDesklets problem to me.
So you might need/want to post your problem in the Ubuntu -> “gdesklets” package -> Bugs section (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdesklets).

Also, `gdesklets version` works fine in 0.36.2 (not as you described it). We're not Ubuntu, so we neither do things on their release schedule nor are we responsible for their release decisions (i.e. old versions, individual patches).
