Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx
rhythmbox 0.12.7-0ubuntu7

When I attempted to transfer some songs to my iphone I was given the error "Error transferring track Unable to send file to MTP device: PTP Layer error 02ff: LIBMTP_Send_File_From_File_Descriptor(): Could not send object."

For each mp3 it would give the error and after about 5 it crashed. Perhaps transferring to an iphone isn't supported, I just assumed it was because the iphone showed up in rhythmbox.

thank you for your bug report, could you apply the current update, restart your session and see if that's still an issue? the iphone was detected as a mtp device but should be handled as an iphone now

I upgraded to rhythmbox 0.12.7-0ubuntu8 rebooted the computer and unfortunately get the same error when trying to drag a song to the iphone, "Unable to send file to MTP device: PTP Layer error 02ff: LIBMTP_Send_File_From_File_Descriptor(): Could not send object."

I upgraded to usbmuxd 1.0.2-1ubuntu1 and now my iphone doesn't appear in rhythmbox. I don't know if it's associated, but as I understand the iphone should also appear in nautilus, but it never has for me.

could you open a bug using "ubuntu-bug storage"? it will give us detailed log about the issue which make debugging easier

I submitted bug #545860. After running "ubuntu-bug storage" I selected the first option, "Removable storage device is not mounted automatically." If I need choose another option and resubmit please let me know.

As far as it is now because apple uses some weird short name system you can not move music over to the iphone without making some tweaks. You can pull the music off but you will see the short names but you can just use Picard to fix that.

Thanks for the info Seth. At this point my issue is that my iphone no longer shows up in either nautilus or rhythmbox...nada.

OpenSuSE has this issue too:

LIBMTP_Send_File_From_File_Descriptor(): Could not send object.

Rhythmbox 0.12.8
OpenSuSE 10.3

This bug also affects me. Exactly the same way as it affects jtholb. I also can't see any songs on the iPhone. Using Lucid and iOS 5.

PS: is there a way I can generate more information to attach to this bug?
