Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

I cannot change my brightness with the FN+F7 FN+F8 keystrokes on my laptop when using Ubuntu. My F8 key is brightness up F7 key is brightness down. I tried xev in terminal and type the FN+F7 FN+F8 nothing returns. I also get into tty1 and typed showkey command and pressed the two combination keys still shows no keycode back. I type F7+7 returns 71 FN+8 returns 72 F7 returns 65 F8 returns 66 but FN+F7 and FN+F8 return nothing. Is there a bug of this kernel? Tried Ubuntu 8.04 8.10 9.10 all have this issue. Please fix it. Thank you.
