Sleep button action does the wrong thing

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

The sleep button action is set to Sleep, but when pressed the computer hibernates. Expected the computer to actually go to sleep. If sleep is chosen from the power menu on the top right corner of the screen, the computer goes to sleep correctly.

I'm running Ubuntu on a Dell XPS M1330.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of GNOME Power Manager is available on Maverick and we are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version? Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

I have a Dell Vostro 1510 laptop and have the same issue. Pressing the sleep button (Fn+F1) hibernates rather than sleeps. I am running a freshly installed 10.10.

A bit of googling shows other people have the same problem:
