Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store

Today I purchased my first album from the Ubuntu-One music store. Now I can see the music files in my online account but it doesn't sync with Rhythmbox. I also have the problem that the contact sync doesn't work.

News:

I removed my computer from the Ubuntu One Account. Then I started the configuration and added my computer to my account once again. Now it works. Very slow, but it works.

The problem with the contact sync still exist, but this is another problem.

PS: I know this is the wrong place, but I have to do it: Thanks to all who are working on Ubuntu One and the Ubuntu One Music Store. For me this is a killing feature for Ubuntu. I really appreciate your work. :-)

This seems to be a problem with the syncdaemon downloading files generally, so reassigning to ubuntuone-client.

affects: rhythmbox-ubuntuone-music-store (Ubuntu) → ubuntuone-client (Ubuntu)

My purchased songs wont sync at all. I can see them, and download them from the web (one.ubuntu.com). But they wont sync to my computer. And Ubuntu One Music just says "Preparing to download", but nothing happends.

I have got the same problem. Rhythmbox says the purchased songs are transferred to my Ubuntu One Storage or are queued but they won't sync at all. The Ubuntu One Music Store download page looks like in the attached screenshot for hours. Also it seems that my computer is getting slower while trying to sync. The window manager seems to stutter.

Fallen Dark: Transferring songs from your Ubuntu One personal cloud to your desktops is being impacted by the current file sync slowness. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Status#Files
We are preparing some database enhancements that should soon speed up file sync. In the meantime, all purchased songs can be downloaded from your Ubuntu One personal cloud at https://one.ubuntu.com/files. It's not the ideal experience, but at least you can get to your music instead of waiting for file sync to complete.

My purchases synchronized. They just didn't synchronize where I *expected* them to turn up.

After an hour of grumbling and trying to figure out how to force the U1 client to synchronize (that's another thing — the 10.04 client *needs* a "Sync Now" button) I noticed in a Nautilus window that my available hard-drive space had dropped by an amount roughly equivalent to the space Ubuntu One's web interface said was being taken up by my store purchases. After digging around (and around ... and around ... and eventually realizing I was running in circles), I had the idea to see if the songs I had purchased had somehow managed to show up in Rhythmbox's library. They were, much to my surprise. I pulled up the Properties item for one of the songs, hit the Details tab and voila! My purchased songs *had* been synchronized to my laptop, just not to anyplace I expected to see them.

Instead of being in ~/Ubuntu One/Purchased Music/ (which, based on the web interface, was where I logically expected to find them) or even ~/Music/ where one might also logically look, Ubuntu One and RhythmBox had happily buried them in ~/.local/share/ubuntuone/Purchased From Ubuntu One/ and not bothered to mention it to me.

The code probably needs to be updated so that Ubuntu One music purchases turn up where people *expect* to find them (the Ubuntu One directory or even a subdirectory of the Music directory) rather than having songs buried in a hidden directory's sub-sub-subdirectory.

Same here. The syncdaemon (already running according to the terminal I started rhythmbox in) did not react on it's own. After rebooting, I saw it started syncing (so I could probably have restarted that daemon without rebooting...)

Apparently this issue was caused by transient server performance issues and was not a software issue on the Ubuntu One Client.

If the problem persists or happens again, please reset the status to New.

This just happened to me on my first purchase under Natty. I left Banshee on all night in hopes that it would finally sync, but it didn't.

Restarting the daemon didn't fix it.

Never mind, the U1 status page says:

2011-05-12 9:15 UTC We're still working on the database problem that is impacting file sync performance.
2011-05-11 14:30 UTC We're having a database problem that is affecting file sync in particular. Performance will be degraded until we fix this problem which we're working on currently.

I'll return the bug to invalid if everything is okay once they fix the DB issue.
