Bug Description
This bug is similar to bugs 123775, 506502, and 197905: the touchpad on the Acer AO532-2326 netbook running UNR 9.10 is identified by the kernel only as "ImPS/2 Generic Wheel Mouse" in /proc/bus/
Unlike similar bugs, the output of tpconfig -i is: Could not open PS/2 Port [/dev/psaux]. Also unlike similar bugs, the touchpad works but is overly sensitive, making the keyboard very difficult to use due to tap to click false positives. I installed gsynaptics, but System-
GSynaptics couldn't initialize.
You have to set 'SHMConfig' 'true' in xorg.conf or XF86Config to use GSynaptics
As far as I can tell, there is no xorg.conf file. Adding a /etc/hal/
This is a serious usability issue for this netbook. Please let me know if I can help fix it.
Thanks,
TM

Hi TM,
This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http:// cdimage. ubuntu. com/releases/ .
If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal) . It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.
apport-collect -p linux 544215
Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/KernelMainl ineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs- upstream- testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs- upstream- testing' text. Please let us know your results.
Thanks in advance.
