Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Received this error upon boot. System was just cold booted due to a lockup. I had been clicking through screen savers to pick one, the screen went black and stopped sending video (monitor light went amber). Only way out was a cold boot, and as mentioned earlier I got the popup upon boot after.

Thank you for reporting this bug and describing what happened before it (we often miss that information). At the moment, there are known problems of this kind upstream with i845 and i855. For the time being we are marking all these as duplicates and when upstream has a fix, we can test and see if any of the bugs are not solved by that fix and unduplicate those. So I'm marking this as duplicate of bug 541492 for now.
