Bug Description

Presently working with DELL D531 laptop with AMD Turion processor, which usually works fine with WinXP OS. Recently changed to 9.04 then updated to 9.10 via upgrade. Once upgrade completes & reboot, system shows proper grub, with default entry kernel 2.6.31.20, black/blank screen appears. And then I tried to switch between tty1 to tty6, none works;

Again rebooted and chosen recovery console in grub and system initiates and in recovery console I choosed resume normal boot, system goes to login prompt and then able work with start and its fine.

Similar problem observed with one of the AMD Desktop machines (RD580 chipset) Asus M2R32-MVP Board; ext3/ext4 File system.

Expect: System boots properly with clear ubuntu Desktop screen.
Actual: System shows grub and then goes blank, doesnt show any of the terminals to work with commands as well.
