Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I was trying to download and install necessary updates just after I installed Ubuntu 9.1.0 . During the download I was working on a calc. file from open office. Than I saw that installation has started and I saw a comment that I had to close open office in order the installations to continue. I closed open office and I saw another comment that in order to continue the system needs restart and clicked OK. After the system restarted nothing happened. I started update manager but it did not continue giving the error message below " E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report." I am a new user of linux so I do not know what to do in this case.
