On pages where "To show information about this item, the software catalogue needs updating", the "Update Now" button is above this text. This doesn't really make visual sense: the button to do something should be after the explanation of why you need to do it.

Notice also that the text "To show information about this item, the software catalogue needs updating" is located precisely where the package description is normally located. This makes it quite easy to miss this message.

What happened to my Thunderbird calendar? When I looked it had disappeared, and when I looked in Software Centre I got this message.

This issue is no longer present in recent versions software-center.
