Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

Troy, empathy dont have any implementation for Facebook chat it just uses the method of gtalk, upstream developers of empathy also highly dislike the type of protocol support that facebook supports. can you please confirm if this is still an issue. How many contacts of yours are online, this might be due to a large number of online contacts?

Hi Omar,

Yes 3 am still having this issue. After I posted the bug, my contacts mysteriously appearred. However, the disappeared again after a few minutes and haven't come back again.

I don't have a high number of contacts, so I don't think that may be the issue. I usually ony have 5-15 friends online at a time.

I installed Pidgin and it seems to be working flawlessly. But, I would rather use Empathy for a single program.

I clicked on the link to try and report this "upstream" like you asked. I am new to Linux, and very new to bug reporting. Unfortunately, I wasn't sure where to go, or how to, report the bug. Sorry.

Sorry. I have nothing new to offer. I am still having the same issues as
the initial report. There was no change with the upgrade to 10.04. I am
currently running both empathy and Pidgin.

If you have any specific questions, let me know.

Thanks,
Troy
