Thank you for your bug report, can you run rhythmbox --debug and copy the log there of what happens when connecting the iphone?

Could you try to obtain a backtrace following the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

I have the same problem. On Ubuntu Lucid,

Running rhythmbox --debug

When I plug the iPhone (3GS, 16GB) in, I get "Unhandled media" (as per attachment):

iPhone version: 3.1.3 (7E18)
Model: MC131X

Also, please note that the iPhone appears on the desktop and is working/integrated with Ubuntu's f-spot (photo editing software)

Cheers,
Eddie

Yeh still not working for me either (although the seg fault did get fixed).

I have tested on my laptop (clean lucid install) and it works fine.
I also tested with lucid beta live CD and its works.

So I suspect its an upgrade issue, tho have tried doing complete removal
and re-install of all rhythmbox and iphone packages and that did not help.

Interesting that you say it works w/ a clean install - my Lucid install is a clean install & it's not working for me :(

I just tested with a new user on my machine and it does work.

So would appear to be a bad setting somewhere within my profile.

How can I delete/reset all rhythmbox settings?

I realised that while my install was clean, my home directory was not (I keep it on a separate partition).

I did a

sudo apt-get remove rhythmbox --purge

followed by a

apt-get install rhythmbox

and now it can see my iPhone. However it still isn't working quite yet - there is another issue which I'm investigating...

Ok so the issue I'm having now is that under my account, the iPhone appears in rhythmbox as "Apple iPhone", however it only shows me the movies/photos on it.

I created a new user account and opened rhythmbox as that user, everything worked perfectly. Also, the iPhone appeared (correctly) as "Eddie's iPhone".

So as Tim mentioned, there is something in my home directory which is breaking things..

I think I have found the issue.

Has something to do with the ~/.gvfs folder.

I deleted this folder, logged out and now its working.

perhaps having a real .gvfs folder messes up gvfs (and fuse cant mount
~/.gvfs ) and then rhythmbox cant mount the iphone in there.

In anycase this would actually be a bug with gvfs (or fuse) and not
rhythmbox?
