Bug Description

Binary package hint: transmission

Now that Transmission uses an application indicator instead of a system tray icon, it is impossible to quickly peek at the current upload / download without opening Transmission, since the current system doesn't do tooltips (bug #528108).

A similar issue was solved for Rhythmbox by adding an insensitive menu item at the top of the indicator menu with the text that used to appear in the notification icon's tooltip. Seeing the overall upload / download speed for Transmission is extremely useful, so it would make sense to port that feature to the new system in the same fashion.

Hi Charles,

Thanks for your quick response!

This bug is more a wishlist request for a workaround as seen in
Rhythmbox. No problem if it's outside the realm of reason, though :)

Hi Dylan,

Yes, I understand. However this is a question of "whose problem is it", and the answer is Application Indicator's. If Transmission uses the "workaround" suggested by Application Indicator's Guidelines, Transmission will still be worse than before and Application Indicator will have fractionally less need to fix its wart.
