Bug Description

the message outputted by apport when reporting a bug is "Impossible de se connecter à la base de données des plantages. Veuillez vérifier votre connexion Internet." (Which means in english : inpossible to connect to crash database. Please check your network connection"). My connection is working, I access to network (no problem to access to launchpad or other webpages) so I don't know what is wrong. Happens with latest Lucid and apport package. 1.13-0ubuntu2.

Screen goes black with some broken pipe messages scrolling. Then goes completely black with system frozen. No crash report. Dell 2400. I am running lucid updated 2 April, but some kernel images did not update. Can't find anything in the logs.

I'm trying to report crash as default user now but apport reports the same error as described above.

"Cannot connect to crash database, please check your Internet connection.

<urlopen error [Errno -2] Name or service not known>"

However, it works as root in command line :

sudo apport-bug --crash-file=_usr_bin_rhythmbox.1000.crash

I use Lucid with apport version: 1.13.3-0ubuntu2.

Are you guys behind a network proxy?

In that case this is a duplicate of bug 94130.

Hello Johan,

In my case, you're right. Despite i disabled the proxy settings with gnome-network-properties, my environment variable http_proxy and https_proxy still contains the proxy setting i use at work.

In command line as default user, i deleted the content of http_proxy & https_proxy and it works now.
