Bug Description

The VGA settings are not set correctly for the Dell Inspiron 1100. When these settings are updated to a mode that works with the 1100 (773) it is removed when a new kernel is installed.

I recall something about the team wanting a screenshot of the dev splash screen on display it didn't work so I've attached one.

Setting package to linux-source-2.6.15, so this bug gets out of the list of bugs without a package.
Can you confirm this bug still happens in edgy/feisty?
Thanks.

With the new progress bar versions of usplash, does this still happen? If not, this bug can be closed.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner.
There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. My apologies as I should not have marked this Invalid. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Maverick Meerkat. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
