Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Trying to install 9.10 via each of ubuntu, mythubuntu and Super OS (yes I am aware Cannonical dont offer support for Super OS). All hang at the same point. ; System reports 'detecting file systems' and flashes every few seconds.

9.10 was working on this computer previously, only changes since that time were installing a new LCD monitor, and a SATA DVD drive.

I have no idea how to obtain the files (/var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman) using the command line prompt.
I have no graphical interface because I tried to upgrade from 9.04, but was left with a black screen and command prompt.
Now I find the system will not do a clean install due to this problem.

All suggestions to fix involve internet, but at the command line, I have no net access.

It is unbelievable this problem is not reported, there are dozens of similar complaints on different forums, including the Ubuntu forum.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test a current, supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect 534864, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
