Bug Description

Binary package hint: plymouth

Plymouth is dropping to a big text prompt to enter my encryption password after some blinking and proceeds booting with blue/white progress bars.

I upgraded from Karmic installed with an Alternate CD on encrypted LVM.

Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and help to improve Ubuntu.

Your report shows that you have the VGA16 framebuffer, so text prompts are the expected behavior due to bug #526892. Does the boot *fail*, or are you simply reporting that it's text-based?

Changed in plymouth (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Boot does not fail. It's text based with a lot of screen artefacts and flickering.
It shows the blue/white progress bars in combination with text.
