The package version 1.6.2-1 in Debian unstable fixes this issue.

If you want I can provide you with a diff, but it would be better if you could sync to Debian as it contains some more fixes.

Marking as patch-accepted-debian as patch is just a diff of change already in debian which was synced to resolve this issue.
