gvfs-backends package should be a dependency of gvfs not only recommended

Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

I've upgraded to the Lucid Lynx from Karmic. Probably gvfs-backends package got uninstalled in the upgrade and i could no more connect to remote servers with Nautilus. So i've installed gvfs-backends package which provided me with the remote connection. I've checked with synaptic, gvfs-backends in just recommended and not a dependency.
Is there a reason for this or is it a bug?

Cheers,

 Davide

thank you for your bug report, that's not a bug though, recommends are things which are installed by default but that users can remove if they really want, which is the case there, you technically don't need all the extra locations and backends if you only use local browsing

Changed in nautilus (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Invalid

But at least, when the user tries to connect to a server, it should be pointed to him that he can install this package to have much more functionality. Just a question: is this package in the default lucid iso? If yes why it has been removed during my upgrade from karmic? From the user point of view it seems a regression, because some functionality available in karmic was lost on lucid. That's why I reported this as a bug.

The package is installed by default. Packages can sometimes end up being removed in a development release due to transitional states in the main archive or the mirror you are using. Apt does tell you when a package is going to be removed though, and people testing the development release should be aware of this

Ok, that's fine. I should have paid more attention to the packages that have been uninstalled. Sorry for making this noise.
