Bug Description

Binary package hint: software-center

When you click on an item in the software list view it expands either down or up depending on some mechanism I have yet to discover.

I suggest that when you click on the item it always expands down, pushing items below it. In essence the item shouldn't jump around but remain fixed in the list (as well as the above items).

Using 10.04

USC: Installed: 1.1.16.1

Hi zekopeko. Currently, there is another bug in software center (bug 514879) that has as one of its manifestations that pronounced "jumping" effect that you describe. I suspect that when bug 514879 is fixed, you may find the issue that you describe in this bug may no longer be bothersome for you. I think we ought to revisit this bug once 514879 is fixed to re-access.

Many thanks!

Just a note that I was incorrect in my guess in comment #1. Bug 514879 has now been fixed, but the "jumping" effect when selecting rows in the software list view still occurs. Since this is a fairly unsightly visual artifact, I'll bump the importance to "Low".

This no longer seems to be an issue in Ubuntu Software Center 5.1.14.1, Ubuntu Precise Beta 2. The expansion of items when navigating either up or down in the list does not cause the the items to "jump around". I'll set this one as fix released.
