Bug Description

Whenever I open liferea, my system freezes hard. I can't ctrl+alt+backspace or any other trick like that. All I can do is do a hard reboot from the power button. I think it has probably been hapening for a day or two, not sure becuase this is the first time I closed liferea and had to reopen it in a few days. I'm using the latest 2.6.15 kernel in the repos.

A total freeze (i.e. Caps lock light stops working) indicates a kernel problem... no userspace program can cause something like that.

Are you running any binary kernel modules? Do you overclock your hardware? Do you have any BIOS tweaks in place? Is your CPU sufficiently cooled? Does memtest for a day throw up any errors? What hardware do you have in your machine? etc.

Well, I just got the same freeze without even opening liferea. I'm now sure it wasn't liferea, but something with the kernel. I tried numlock and caps lock, neither worked. uname -a:
Linux cjhard 2.6.15-6-686 #1 SMP Thu Dec 1 04:13:59 UTC 2005 i686 GNU/Linux

It seems to be the same problem I've had with the 2.6.12 SMP kernel. I didn't realize SMP was in the kernel by default now. I didn't even notice the second CPU listed in System Monitor. I was just browsing the net, and downloading a few files, and got a lock up. I believe it might have something to do with madwifi, which I require for a D-Link card. Nothing's overclocked, no BIOS tweaks, CPU better be sufficiently cooled with that giant arse fan and heatsink. I don't have time for memtest for a whole day. I believe 2.6.12 was doing the same thing with SMP.
/me should have done more playing around before reporting bug

Rejecting - not a liferea bug. Did you report the bug under the appropriate kernel module?

Thanks :)
