Bug Description

Every time I reboot, the screen resolution is 640*480 and cannot be increased, or (more common) it is set at 800*600; in this case it can be changed, but it is frustrating. It NEVER sets to 1024*768. When I set it manually to 1024*768, it changes, but I cannot save it to the X Configuration file.

From your logs it looks like you're using the restricted nvidia drivers? That would mean you were using nvidia-settings to change the screen resolution. Is this correct?

If so, you need to run nvidia-settings as root in order to save the changes you make. Does running “gksudo nvidia-settings” allow you to save the X configuration file?
