Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I am unable to reproduce this on Firefox 3.6 or Firefox 3.7 daily builds on Lucid. Can you please let us know if you are still getting this error? Do you get it for all tar.gz files you download? Is your system fully up-to-date? Thanks in advance!

Thank you for providing a link to the file. The behavior does not seem to be present in Firefox 3.7. However, I have confirmed this bug on Firefox 3.6.2 on Ubuntu 10.04.

Strangely, the Archive Manager was not found for the tar.gz file you provided, but it was found just fine for other tar.gz files I tried. Also, going to the /tmp/ folder, I was able to open the tar.gz you provided just fine. I am marking this Confirmed and will continue to test this in order to try to find the exact cause of the issue.

Which desktop environment are you using? Does this occur if you install the firefox-gnome-support package?

Nevermind, I didn't follow the test case completely.

Sorry I haven't responded to this report in a while. Can you confirm whether or not this is still happening on an up-to-date Lucid system? Thanks in advance!

I've been trying to reproduce this for a half hour to try to determine the cause, but I have not been able to do so. Since Firefox has undergone so many updates, can you please try once more with the final release of Ubuntu 10.04? Sorry I keep asking you to test this again, but I'm trying to figure out if this is still a problem so we can finally try to resolve the issue.
