Bug Description

The ubuntu netboot/server installer needs the xen modules in order to access the Xen paravirtualised network interface and paravirtualised block device.

Please include:

drivers/block/xen-blkfront.ko
drivers/net/xen-netfront.ko

This is a 64bit only bug. These modules dont exist in the 32bit kernel.

This change needs to be made in the kernel. xen-blkfront should go in the scsi-modules udeb; xen-netfront should go in the nic-modules udeb.

affects: ubuntu → linux (Ubuntu)

I rebuild the mini.iso initrd including xen-blkfront.ko and xen-netfront.ko and rebuild the maps and was able to use this to do an install, however it would be better if they were included by default.

Further, it seems that xen-netfront.ko at least needs to be in the initrd, as this may be needed to download the udeb.
If the udeb is on disk, then xen-blkfront.ko would be needed in initrd.

Both karmic and lucid initrds are affected.

Any chance for this to be completed for 10.04? Also the console (/dev/hvc0) doesnt get detected unless the xenfs.ko module is included.
