I think it came about as a result of using Janitor as I recall Janitor targeting this file (amongst many others) for removal - and the process ground to a halt in a grey screen that did not resolve it's self after 10 minutes.....

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.

This is a package failure between currently unsupported releases so we can no longer work on this.

BTW, Janitor was removed.
