Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.15-26-686

Today I updated kernel and restricted-modules to 2.6.15-26. Since then, the sound is very jerky. I did not have these problems with -25.

alexander@knospe:~/Desktop$ lspci |grep audio
0000:00:11.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 50)

For my lshw output, please see http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/18165. For "lsmod" output, please see http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/18168.

The jerkiness is also apparent with ``aplay -Dplughw:0 /usr/share/sounds/startup.wav''. But it's not just the "jerkiness", the real problem is, that I cannot login into Gnome anymore. To be able to start Gnome, I've got to kill esd. Then the applications startup just fine - until the next sound is played.

This looks like duplicate of bug#52649 and bug#53207

I'm no longer an Ubuntu user. So I cannot say, if the system would still malfunction with the current release of Ubuntu.
