Somehow you are running Lucid (10.04) with a 2.6.31 kernel. Lucid is based on a 2.6.32 kernel. The latest kernel available is 2.6.32-16. Please install this kernel and retest. If you can reproduce the issue, move the bug back to the New state. If you can't reproduce the issue, move the bug to the Invalid state.

Thanks

I was selecting different kernels, trying to get it to boot up. I don't know if it was the exact same error, but they all seem to have symptoms as they boot up.

Please attach a dmesg or other kernel log showing the Oops message from a lucid kernel. The message itself contains the kernel version, so maybe you can find an old message from a 2.6.32 kernel in /var/log/messages?

Are these what you want? The 5+ most recent boot attempts other than the current boot were failures, and they were tried on the 32-16 kernel, so you know where to look.
