Low German (nds) translation not available in Karmic

In Karmic it seems, as a complete language disappeared.. Synaptic shows, that tha nds langpack is already installed, but it doesnt take effect on the desktop..
I installed "nds" via the language-selector, but afterwards Low German isnt listed in the dropdown menu, neither in gdm.
So I edited /etc/environment and /etc/default/locale manually, but that also doesnt have an effect, because $locale outputs, that all LANG variables are set to de_DE and not nds_DE.
I am not sure, if this has anything to do with my former use of locale-purge (because locale-purge doesnt have any option for saving Low German after purge), but after removing locale-purge and re-installing Low German via the language-selector for a several times, the problem isnt solved. Again, in Jaunty everything worked pretty fine!

By the way, I have installed all available updates, so maybe one of you might give it a try to install Low German and see, if the translated strings are shown..?

Can you please test with the latest Lucid LiveCD and up-to-date language-selector (0.5.0)? For me, it works.

Well, I am still trying to figure out, why this occurs, because on a fresh installation of Karmic it did work in the way that language-selector gave the the option to choose Low German. In the meantime I also talked to the developer of Bleachbit, which I also ran to remove some obsolete langpacks on my system. But up to now, I do not really have a clue, what causes this problem for me. The last days I was too busy to care unfortunately, but I will give you a feedback, when I know a little more! (Using the Live-CD with Lucid I was not able to set Low German as default, log out and see, whether gdm applies to these changes or not, because I could not write the changes to the harddrive and the Live-CD looses this settings immediatelay) Up to now I just guess, that somewhere, in a list or other preferences, Low German must be missing because of the non-existant support or care of Low German in GNOME in the past. (There simply was noone, who coordinated the translations, until I was assigned to do that.) I will keep you uptodate!

Remember you can use Virtualbox to perform an actual installation on a
virtual machine, which will let you change the language.

You can use Testdrive (https://launchpad.net/testdrive) for that, which
really eases the process.

Unfortunately I can not say, whether this bug still exists or not,
because in the meantime I "solved" this issue by a fresh installation...
