Bug Description

Hello! I've had a working ssh connection to my home computer Ubuntu Karmic 9.04 up-to-date with openssh-server

I've installed Ubuntu Lucid after release of Alpha 3, also everything up to date. After this I could not connect anymore. The error was "ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host" It reached the remote machine, but the failed.

Anyway I finally decided to downgrade from openssh-client v. 1:5.3p1-3ubuntu1: i386 installed on my Lucid to openssh-client 1:5.1p1-6ubuntu2

After this it worked without problems.

This is probably a bug in Ubuntu, which is a different project from Lucid, a prototype for an editor. Can you please remove or replace the reference to project Lucid in the Affects section?

You are correct, it is a bug in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, which must be where the confusion came from. The bug for project Lucid is invalid.

I can not confirm this issue in Ubuntu development version, Lucid Lynx. I am able to connect to my other system with Xubuntu 9.10, Karmic Koala. The system I am connecting from:

apt-cache policy openssh-client
openssh-client:
  Installed: 1:5.3p1-3ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:5.3p1-3ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1:5.3p1-3ubuntu1 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com lucid/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

The system I am connecting to:

apt-cache policy openssh-server
openssh-server:
  Installed: 1:5.1p1-6ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:5.1p1-6ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1:5.1p1-6ubuntu2 0
        500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

However, I do use static IP addresses and have added both hostnames to the /etc/hosts file.

I will try again tonight. Do you have any suggestion for something I should look for or try?

So now it's working with the downgraded version.

Sorry guys for this report. It seems that is IP related and maybe gateway because yesterday when it worked I was in a different location. Now, it's not working again....
