Bug Description

I had a number of files saved on Ubuntu One and have just accessed it after about 2 weeks of being away and there are no files in my system. Could you let me know if these are backed up somewhere?

Thanks
Emma

Hello Emma,

I have converted your question to a bug report.

First of all, the files are not immediately purged from the storage pool so it is possible to recover them. However could you please provide more information to help diagnosing the issue?

We would like you to upload the contents of your ~/.cache/ubuntuone/logs/ directory (open Nautilus and select View/Show Hidden Files). Then you will be able to go to ".cache" folder which is in your home directory, then navigate to "ubuntuone" folder, click logs and choose 'Compress' via the menu. Create an archive and attach the logs to this bug report via 'Add attachment or patch' link.

These logs contain information on what actions were performed by the syncdaemon, the software that is in charge of file sync.

Hi Roman

Thanks very much for your help. Unfortunately I have tried to access Ubuntu
One via my work computer which is Windows based (which I have done before
with no issues) and I won't be online at home on my Linux machine until
Wednesday as I've just moved house and won't be connected until then :o(

If there's any information I can provide in the meantime please let me know
- otherwise I will send the Linux information through on Wednesday evening
as I think this is the last machine I accessed the files on.

Thanks very much for such a prompt response.
Emma

Hello,

Once you are able to collect the logs for the syncdaemon, could you please provide them and we will recover the files that went missing.

Hi Stéphane,

Could you please comment on what actions did you perform on the Ubuntu One folder before you noticing your files were gone?

Also, could you please run the script from http://people.canonical.com/~roman.yepishev/ubuntuone-scripts/ubuntuone-account-info - that will give you the information that we will require to identify you and perform recovery. To run the script open a Terminal and run the following commands:

1. wget http://people.canonical.com/~roman.yepishev/ubuntuone-scripts/ubuntuone-account-info

2. python ubuntuone-account-info

Could you please provide the output of ubuntuone-account-info so that we can start recovery process.

Thank you very much!
