maxima tries to find /lib/libreadline.so.5 but 9.10 has .6

Bug Description

Binary package hint: maxima

TEST CASE:
# apt-get install maxima
# maxima
Error message:
/usr/lib/maxima/5.17.1/binary-gcl/maxima: error while loading shared libraries: libreadline.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
..And maxima doesn't start

This bug makes maxima and in extension wxmaxima unusable without workaround.

simply running:
sudo ln -s /lib/libreadline.so.6 /lib/libreadline.so.5

...will allow maxima to run correctly.

Attached debdiff for removal of explicit dependency on libreadline5-dev, now only depends on libreadline-dev.

By the description of the problem this is suitable for an SRU, but how does the proposed build-depends change fix it? Is maxima not using dpkg-shlibdeps to determine what libraries it should depend on?

Patch not working, so removed, looking into simply changing from 5 to 6 explicitly.

In karmic, maxima depends on libreadline5, so having maxima, but not libreadline5, installed seems strange to me.

Could you please post the output of "apt-cache policy maxima libreadline5"?

Hmm, much much overlooking done on my part it seems... libreadline5 is indeed installed, and when reinstalling it I do get the relevant libs in /lib/ and everything is happy...
Annoying, how on earth did they go missing just like that?

*sigh* I'll just mark this as invalid then.
