Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

On ubuntu-server 9.10 with ubuntu-desktop 9.10 installed. Used synaptic to marke kubuntu-desktop for installation using Mark packages by task. Synaptic marked several packages for removal and several for installation. Expected kubuntu-desktop to replace the ubuntu-desktop. During removal/installation kdm was installed but script to configure returned error and left kdm unconfigured. Option to select gdm or kdm was not presented.
