Bug Description

Ubuntu One inadequately informs the user of current activity. Is syncing going on? Which way, up or down? And currently neither in the tray icon nor with folder icons. Dropbox does this way better.

Sebastian,
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments and ideas on how to make Ubuntu One better. I agree with you that this information could be more readably available to the user. The developers have been busy in this release cycle with the music store and improving stability. However they have added some features to the u1sdtool in Lucid, some of these provide additional information about what is going on with your transfers. In a Terminal run 'man u1sdtool' to see some of these. I would not be surprised if in Lucid +1 this is addressed in some manner.
thank you,

HI duanedesign,

while I consider myself a proficient enough user to deal with the terminal (I also manage a server), this quite irks me, because when a usability or desktop-related issue in Ubuntu requires going to the terminal, it fails the "linux for human beings" test. Dropbox has been around for quite some time, and I'm not saying just copy dropbox, but in terms of usability, ubuntu one just looks very half-baked....

But let's hope. The thing is, no matter who I talk to, I get replies like "there's just no reason to use Ubuntu One" or "what does it do that dropbox doesn't do 10 times better" etc....

cheers
