Firefox shows garbage instead of jpg (only when embedded in iframe)

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5
Instead of showing the actual jpg firefox displays more or less random garbage when attemting to get a close look at e.g. Wikipedia images (previously found via Google image search).
This is only reproductible when the image is displayed withing an iframe. And best of all - there are 3 users on this system and only 1 is facing this problem - the other 2 cannot reproduce this behaviour (it works using the same steps). I'm baffled since I cannot imagine which system component is user centered and also changes the system deep enough to cause such a graphic glitch.
