Installer crashed with the following message:

The provided log file traces the crash to:
Feb 23 11:18:08 mint kernel: [ 1388.971282] install.py[30649]: segfault at 547953bb ip 0813edf7 sp bffe6da0 error 6 in python2.6[8048000+1d3000]

As segfaults in the python interpreter are usually a sign of a bad CD burn, can you please first verify the MD5 checksum of the CD image you downloaded. If the checksums match, then either create a USB install disk (using usb-creator or another tool), or burn the CD at a slower speed, and try the install again, then report back here.
