Total system freeze when starting gaim

Bug Description
Binary package hint: linux-image-
The system freeze completely (doesn't respond to ctrl alt del. ctrl backspace, ctrl alt f1-f6), when I start gaim. (during loggin in to msn). The only other application running was firefox.
This happens almost all the time (about 4 out of 6 times) when I use linux-image-

after more observations, this happens not only when using gaim. my system freeze very frequently using the k7 image. (just happened twice when downloading update).
