I was trying to install KUbuntu 9.10 on a partition that previously contained Kubuntu 7.1 and now is formatted. Boot loader previously was able to select between Win Vista and Kubuntu. I've just installed Windows 7 over my ex-Vista partition and now I was installing Kubuntu 9.10 over the old Kubuntu.

There are no syslog and partman files in /var/log on the targeted partition.

The version: KUbuntu 9.10 i386

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu. While we appreciate the difficulties you are facing, it would appear that the CD image (ISO file) you downloaded could be corrupt. There is an easy way to verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you download. Could you please visit https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM follow the instructions and report back as to whether or not the MD5SUM verified? Thanks in advance.

vcax,

The log files wont appear on the target partition unless the install completes successfully; otherwise they'll be on the live filesystem. Please run the installer until it crashes, then run `apport-collect 525550` from a konsole window.

Thanks!
