Bug Description

Terminator seems to hard-depend on gnome-python packages again. I've found several similar issues here in Launchpad but they are all marked as fixed, so this may be a new issue. A Fedora user reported this issue at [1].

When having the packages gnome-python2-bonobo and gnome-python2-canvas not installed, terminator does not start and crashes with output mentioned at comment 2 [2] in the bug report. The issue is reported against terminator-0.13, but is also reproducible with terminator-0.14. The INSTALL file actually mentions any support for gnome as optional, so either terminator should start without these packages installed as well or the INSTALL file should be corrected so that it is clear, those packages are required.

Oh, not to forget to mention: I assume this is a generic issue which may also affects other distributions as well.

Interestingly enough this is about to stop being a problem, in that I'm working towards a new release which currently doesn't have the gnome import in it, because I haven't rewritten that part yet (I'm not convinced anyone uses it).
0.90-beta3 should therefore work correctly, but it'll be a few weeks yet until there's an actual final release.

0.91 is now out and we currently have no hard dependency on gnome-python that I'm aware of. We do definitely depend on having the cairo bindings, but they ought to be a dependency of the gtk bindings.
We'll be introducing a soft dependency again on python-gnome before 1.0 because right now there's no session handling, but it shouldn't

The 0.91 update is pushed for Rawhide (the development version of Fedora). Thanks very much for your support!
